******************************************************* New MultiTasking WB demos Steve Koren ******************************************************* NOTICE: These programs has been placed in the public domain, and may be freely copied, but not sold. DOCS: Line thing is a multitasking demo which is intended to run in WB 1.2 interlace screen. (I'm not sure what it'll do if it is run in a medium res screen.) A few lines appear and move around the screen in a backdrop borderless window. Note that the workbench icon screen is also a backdrop borderless window, so this program must be run from the CLI by a 'Run Line-Thing'. You will only be able to see Line-Thing if you have some space on your WB screen that is not taken up by a window. The more space, the better. Line-Thing takes only a few K bytes and uses only a few percent of the 68000 CPU time, so it can be run with most anything, as compared to the standard workbench LINE and BOXES demos which grab all the CPU time and will slow any interactive tasks to a virtual crawl. It makes a good multitasking demo, and the file size is around 1/10 that of the workbench demos. I have also re-written the workbench line and boxes demos to use only a few percent of the CPU time, and these new versions are included herein. It is possible to run 5 or 10 line or boxes demos, and still get decent performance out of a text editor! (Try that one with the standard demos!) I suggest that these demos be used in place of the standard ones to demonstrate Amiga Multitasking to any poor souls with MACS, IBMs, etc.
